the Gun (staff)
The Gun was the most basic weapon in ancient china and it wasn't even a gun it was a long staff. It was mostly made from bamboo. It was mostly used for self-defense. It was a deadly weapon and it was used by the Chinese Army but bladed weapons such as the Dao dominated the armies and it was also used for training new recruits but it was almost never used by the Chinese army.
THE JIAN (sword)
The Jian sword is a double edged straight sword that was used 2500 years ago. It was invented by the Han dynasty and every soldier took one into battle until the Jin Dynasty because they invented and used the Dao sword because they were much easier to carry around with then the Jian sword. The Jian was considered to be one of the four major weapons used in ancient China. They were originally made from bronze but then steel was used as the Chinese advanced. The blade length varies from 17 inches to 32 inches and the weight varies from 1 to 2 pounds.
gong (bow and arrow)
It is the most ancient and simplest form of weapon and is believed to be invented over 4,000 years ago. In China archery was 1 of 6 arts that men had to master. archers remained a large force of weaponry for the imperial army until the 19th century.
cannon
The cannon was a very useful weapon that pretty much destroyed such as walls, battering rams and catapults. you could also kill 50 people with 2 or 3 cannon balls instead of using 50 arrows. The first cannon was a hand cannon invented in during the period of the Mongol Yuan Dynasty 1271-1368. the hand cannon was about 34 cm in length, 2.5 cm in diameter and weighs about 3.5 kg.
